Brittany Alvillar, MS, DVM, cVMA
Dr. Brittany Alvillar is a Colorado native from Littleton, CO. At a very young age she had a special love for animals and at the age of 10 she knew she wanted to be a vet. With that goal in mind, she received her B.S in Biology and Zoology from Colorado State University in 2006, and an M.S. in Biomedical Science and Neurobiology in 2007. During this time she became very interested in the nervous system and how it related to chronic pain management. Dr. Alvillar continued at CSU and earned her D.V.M in 2011 where she graduated magna cum laude and was recognized for achievement in anesthesiology. With her interest in the nervous system and pain management, Dr. Alvillar took an additional course during veterinary school to become certified in veterinary medical acupuncture. This form of acupuncture applies an understanding of neurobiology to help relieve pain and improve musculoskeletal and neurologic dysfunctions.
For her first year in practice Dr. Alvillar did an internship at VCA Alameda East Veterinary Hospital in Denver (you might recognize this hospital as the one from Animal Planet's Emergency Vets). During this intense year of medical training she got the chance to work with specialists in emergency medicine, internal medicine, cardiology, oncology, and surgery.
Even though she loves nearly every aspect of veterinary medicine, Dr. Alvillar's special interests include:
- emergency medicine
- pain management
- internal medicine
- feline medicine
- preventative medicine
She is especially passionate about preventing disease through all of the different stages of life.
Dr. Alvillar is excited to be back living in Northern Colorado with her husband, son, and their cats, Little Miss, and Scrumpy. In her spare time she enjoys running, hiking, cooking, wine pairing, independent movies, and spending time with her family.
