Dr. Brittany Alvillar is a Colorado native from Littleton, CO. At a very young age she had a special love for animals and at the age of 10 she knew she wanted to be a vet. With that goal in mind, she received her B.S in Biology and Zoology from Colorado State University in 2006, and an M.S. in Biomedical Science and Neurobiology in 2007. During this time she became very interested in the nervous system and how it related to chronic pain management. Dr. Alvillar continued at CSU and earned her D.V.M in 2011 where she graduated magna cum laude and was recognized for achievement in anesthesiology. With her interest in the nervous system and pain management, Dr. Alvillar took an additional course during veterinary school to become certified in Veterinary Medical Acupuncture.
For her first year in practice Dr. Alvillar did an internship at VCA Alameda
East Veterinary Hospital in Denver. During this intense year of medical
training she got the chance to work with specialists in emergency medicine,
internal medicine, cardiology, oncology, and surgery. She then joined the
team at Advanced Animal Care in 2012, where she has enjoyed taking care of
people's pets through all of their life stages.
Even though she loves nearly every aspect of veterinary medicine, Dr.
Alvillar's special interests include:
- Feline medicine
- Emergency medicine
- Pain management
- Preventative medicine
Dr. Alvillar lives in Northern Colorado with her husband, two children, and cats, Little Miss and Scrumpy. In her spare time she enjoys spending time with her family, running, biking, cooking, gardening, and beer tasting.
