Katie Woodley, BVSc, cVMA
Dr. Katie Woodley is a Colorado native who grew up in Colorado Springs. As a child, she was interested in raising all the small animals she could from saving birds to helping stray cats and volunteering at the Humane Society. She graduated from the University of Notre Dame in 2006 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology. Due to her passion for travel, she attended veterinary school in New Zealand at Massey University, graduating in 2010. Living on a lifestyle block in New Zealand is where her passion for living off the land began to develop and her interest in natural medicine began.
Dr. Woodley worked in a small animal clinic in New Zealand for a few years before returning to Colorado Springs. While working for three years in a Colorado Springs small animal clinic, she began to delve further into her special interest in herbal and integrative medicine to find the best treatment plan for patients, especially when conventional medicine had not fixed the problem and there were no other options. Becoming certified in acupuncture in 2015 through the Medical Acupuncture for Veterinarians course at CSU enabled Dr. Woodley to begin practicing integrative medicine. She continues to develop this interest with numerous continuing education programs and as she undertakes a certification course for Chinese Herbal Medicine.
Other special interests of Dr. Woodley include:
- Feline medicine
- Pain management
- Preventative medicine
- End of life care
Dr. Woodley and her husband, a Kiwi native, are the proud parents of a German shepherd, Finn, and two kitties, Stanley and Callie, all from New Zealand.
Outside of the clinic, Dr. Woodley enjoys hiking, running, and anything to do with the outdoors with her husband and family. She also enjoys watching and cheering on the Fighting Irish Notre Dame football team and the US Women's soccer team!
